Hello,
I’m Anant Gupta, the political correspondent at Scroll. I cover the complexities – and often the absurdities – of Indian politics, reporting often on the leaders who shape our collective future.
In recent months, I have written about a chief minister who leans more on the police than his own party, an industries minister whose decisions are driving a local industry into decline, and a former municipal councillor who proudly boasts about separating an interfaith couple.
While most mainstream news publications are backed by billionaires and operate with sprawling teams, Scroll takes a different path. We’re a small, fiercely independent newsroom. What we lack in size, we make up for in tenacity.
We go beyond the headlines, chasing down the uncomfortable truths others might overlook. But this kind of journalism takes time, effort – and resources.
If you’re already a Scroll member, thank you. Your support makes this work possible.

Warm regards,
Anant Gupta
